English Language Teaching Institute, Assam (ELTIA) is a premier institute of Assam in the field of English Teacher Training. It is an autonomous organization established by the Department of Education, Govt. of Assam under the Societies Registration Act 1860 in 1986. The Board of Governors constituted by the Govt. of Assam looks after the overall administration of the Institute. The Commissioner and Secretary, Elementary Education Department, Govt of Assam is the Chairman and dignitaries from the Government and Statutory Bodies in charge of formal education in the state are the members of the Board. The Institute is supported academically and financially by the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad.
ELTIA conducts various ELT programmes for the teachers of English of lower primary, upper primary and secondary schools of Assam. It also conducts refresher course for the subject teachers of English of Assam on request. The programmes conducted by ELTIA are-

• One month certificate course in ELT
